Lyme Basics & Resources

I have been asked sooo many times for the info I have on Lyme, what I do, what is best to do, where to go, who to see… and I keep saying I will do it… Someday!! And I keep procrastinating it. Mostly because Lyme is such a HUGE subject, and because there are so many different opinions on it. There are many different courses to go in treating it. And what works for one, has a good possibility of not working for their friend/family, who is also struggling with it. Not to mention there is an unlimited amount of info to be found online. And not all of it is to be trusted. So hopefully my links and info are the right info. (If not let me know!!)

There are also many different co-infections that go with Lyme. And each person will probably have different symptoms. Lyme is very complicated and hard to study.

‘Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia (FMS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) , Rheumatoid Arthritis, migraines, Lupus, ALS Lou Gehrig’s disease and many other neurological and autoimmune disorders can all be caused by Lyme. Don’t accept being diagnosed with a symptom, find the cause!’

–Some resources to inform yourself– (I’m sure this list will continue to grow…)

Under Our Skin – A video –
I finally got this video watched!! And it is gripping!! If you have lyme or know anyone, family or friend, that has it, I highly recommend watching it. Prepare to cry!! It was started by a guy who had a friend get lyme and he didn’t know what it was. It contains both sides of the Lyme Controversy. It shows lyme is curable, it is crippling, and it is real!!! It is well done, interesting, and is not just a documentary. I got it through our local Library System. If you can’t find it and you don’t want to buy it, you can also rent it from YouTube, Here is the Main website for the video. And here is the preview on YouTube.

Yay!! My cousin just told me it’s free on Hulu now!!!

Lyme World’s Video’s – Lots of videos about Lyme and others stories. It’s so encouraging to me to know there are others who have been down this road and have made full or almost full recoveries!! There are also video’s connecting lyme to Autism & Alzheimer’s.

–Simple Helps– You can do at home

Diet Change-Lyme needs yeast to grow, and a suppressed immune system. And when you have yeast, you have parasites. What feeds yeast?? Gluten, sugar, yeast, sugary fruits, potatoes, & milk/milk products. Yes, that list covers most of the standard foods in a typical American Diet. But I know from experience I feel much better when I follow that diet!! And tomatoes are also to be excluded because it causes inflammation. And lyme in an inflammatory disease. (Tomatoes and milk are things we struggle with avoiding the most!!)

Include LOTS of probiotics, kefir, homemade yogurt, (store-bought is full of sugar and actually contains a lower amount of probiotics, even if it sounds good.) and fermented foods.

Boost Your Immune System – Find a good nutritional supplement. I took Reliv for the last year, and just now switched to IntraMax. No, it’s not cheap.

Ginger Sweat Detox – My personal favorite!! I’ve gone through LOTS of ginger powder. But it works for me right now. Sometimes the results last a couple of days other times just a few hours.

Digestive Detox – Not an option for everyone, I know. But I feel it was the best thing I could ever have done. And we are actually looking at returning this winter again. You can read more about my experience on my posts Florida Bound and Cleansing in FL. It is an intense course of internal detoxing, but a thorough and simple process. Although, depending how fast you do it, your body does take a toll. I strongly feel like a detox program while killing off lyme is your best ticket to staying healthy!! Or as healthy as you can, as you are getting rid of toxins and not letting them build up in your body, making you sicker. Here is a link to Healthy Living Institute, in Sarasota, FL. where I went for this detox.

–Lyme Killers–

Antibiotics –  So many mixed reviews on this one. I have stayed away from it, until now. We have a Dr. appointment scheduled to hopefully start a treatment program. A good Lyme Dr. will put you on 1 1/2-2 yrs, with breaks and a detox program. But they are hard to find.

I have been told by someone, who has helped many people work through Lyme, that she has seen the best results in those who build their immune system, watch their diet, use antibiotics, and natural/herbal killers, along with detoxing they are the ones she has seen the best results with.

Olive Leaf Tincture – It is actually found in the ImLife, but I’m sure its better just having Olive Leaf by itself. You can buy Olive Leaf Tincture already made at Mountain Meadow Herbs or Mountain Rose Herbs or just make it yourself. It is actually very simple.

ImLife – A tincture you make yourself with premixed herbs. ‘ImLife is a combination of nine different herbs containing natural antibiotic properties to help boost the immune system and fight infections.’ ‘[The] herbs also found in the mix are some of the best blood purifiers, immune boosters, fungus fighters and much more.’ I found when taking this, it would kill lyme. But I know it is not enough, it doesn’t go deep enough!! (It contains Olive Leaf and Cat’s Claw, both are known to kill Lyme.)

Samento – ‘Cat’s Claw’ The Green Pharmacy is the best place I have found. Cat’s Claw has been shown to kill lyme. And in the book Healing Lyme, he says taking Cat’s Claw on a regular basis, helps as a preventative. Especially if you live in an area with lots of ticks!!

–Support Groups–

Lyme Net

Lyme Community – Bryan Rosner’s forum. He is the author of The Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments: Defeat Lyme Disease with the Best of Conventional and Alternative Medicine, mentioned above.

Lyme Bloggers – Is on Facebook, a place for those who have lyme can share their blogs. I have been blessed reading others stories.

What is Lyme?? – A site where there are links to finding support groups in most every state.

–Lyme Info–

WildCondor’s Lyme Links – This is a good site with lots of links to educate yourself about Lyme!!

Lyme Disease Association – A site you can search for an LLMD in your area. Along with lots of info. And find lyme groups in your area.
